How to deal with someone who is going through alcohol?

My bf just got diagnosed with pancreasitis which is the inflammation of the pancreas. The doctor told him, he cannot drink anymore alcohol. He is not an alcoholic, but he does drink regularly. Today he snapped at me on the phone, for no reason. Is this moodiness part of withdrawal? And if so, what can I do to help? How to deal with someone who is going through alcohol?
ALCOHOL DEPENDENCE: It is a condition where alcohol consumption interferes with the normal activities of a person. Example are like he can鈥檛 stand properly, he doesn鈥檛 know about most of the thing, he is doing to himself or to others. He knows that it is not good for his health, but he feel helpless in controlling when it comes to drinking again. The reason behind the dependence may be stress, family problem, depression, grief or anxiety.

Yes, moodiness and depression are signs of withdrawal. For some reason, people who quit drinking also crave sweets (stock up on chocolate). He can ask his doctor about anti-depressants or anxiety meds to get over the hump.

Patience and understanding will be your mantra. Good luck.
ignore it he will recover from withdrawal very soon
talk things out think happy thought
He may be irritable thinking about having a health problem too, though some of it can be from withdrawal. Your support will be important to him even if he snaps at you. Try to get some dvds and ways to help him find enjoyment without drinking.
